Access for Special Populations

IN211 seeks to provide access for special populations.

Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Speech-Impaired
IN211 is working to ensure that persons who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Speech Impaired can access 2-1-1 service via multiple means. Representatives of the D, HoH and SpI communities have requested access via multiple means—through 2-1-1, 711 and other emerging technologies. IN211 is working to respond to these requests, although TTY users may not yet access the service by dialing 2-1-1 directly because of technical issues.

Indiana Relay or 711 Users
7-1-1 is the single, toll-free, nationwide number that gives everyone access to relay services. People can dial 7-1-1 from to reach some who uses a standard phone or a TTY (telephone typewriter). 711 is the three-digit dialing code for Indiana Relay, 800-743-3333. An operator will relay verbatim the conversation between the parties.

TTY users should dial 711 and tell the relay operator to call the 10-digit number below.

Non-English Speakers
All IN211 Centers provide access to non-English speakers through language interpretation services. Several IN211 Centers employ bi-lingual I&R Specialists.

IN211 respectfully requests that human service providers NOT use 2-1-1 interpretation services as a replacement for their own interpretation services.
