Call to Action In Indiana, the over 80% of financial support for 2-1-1 comes from private, philanthropic funding, such as United Ways, community foundations, grants and donations. State and federal funding are needed to complete the system. 2-1-1 must become a real public-private partnership in order to become a human service that all Hoosiers can count on, day and day out. Please act today! 1. Contact your member of Congress through 1-888-PASS-211! - Explain the value of 2-1-1 for your community. - Urge passage of S.211 and H.R.211 THIS YEAR! - Thank Senator Lugar and Senator Bayh for being original co-sponsors on S.211 2. Add your business or organization to the Endorsement List. Over 2400 businesses and organizations have endorsed 2-1-1. Add your name to the list by Statement of Endorsement: "We, the undersigned, endorse nationwide coverage of the three-digit telephone number 2-1-1. We endorse 2-1-1 as a public/private partnership, and call for federal, state, local, non-profit, foundation and business investment to bring 2-1-1 to every American, so that every American will have access to community, volunteer, health and human service information and referral, both everyday and in times of crisis preparedness and response." 3. Talk with you local legislators about the need for State funding. - Explain the value of 2-1-1 for your community. - Invite legislators and community leaders to visit the local 2-1-1 Center. - Urge that State government provide funding to ensure 24-hour 2-1-1 service for ALL Hoosiers. |
